Collegiate Nationals

I finished 10th Overall in a field of over 400 of the nation's top collegiate triathletes.  I started out with a great swim time of 22:27.  I spent a lot of time this winter in the pool and was able to swim the entire 1500 meters next to my teammate and high school swimmer Kate Vann. It was a lot of fun coming out of the water with my teammate, especially since we were right next to each other in transition.

For the bike, I had a great time and moved up a number of spots.  The bike was certainly short, but the results say I covered the 40km distance in 59:47.  My GPS watch says it was about 1.5 miles short though.  Unfortunately I did lose a water bottle on the bumpy road as I was trying to fill my front aero bottle.  At this point it was about 88 degrees out; the womens race didn't start until 11am.  I went into the run feeling a little thirsty...

As soon as I started running my quads cramped up.  I had a pretty bad electrolyte imbalance, so this was a new experience for me!  I gritted my teeth and kept pushing, trying to ignore the pain in my quads.  I finished the run in 44:12, which is definitely a little slow for me, but considering the conditions I will take it!  My total time was 2:08:50, which is a PR for me.  I'm excited to see what the rest of the season will bring!

Here is the official result:
