Late August Add On and Petoskey

It's been a while! Johan's went great, I finished 1st in my age group and qualified for Age Group Nationals. After that, life got very busy. Medical school was getting very difficult and I lost track of time. Unfortunately I did not manage to get a July race in, mostly because the race I have planned on (Mackinaw MultiSport Mix) had a conflict with medical school, so I couldn't go. I didn't have a chance to replace it with another July race. So instead I am adding a race in July, which will mean 3 races for August! Lansing Legislator also went really well. The woman who finished 1st is a fantastic racer who is the president of a club called Team Tri Smart. After talking to MJ Slikas, my fiance and I decided to join the team! We will be racing in Petoskey, which happens to be the championship for the club series and we will be representing Team Tri Smart.
With Petoskey growing so close, my fiance and I decided to take a trip up north. We are staying at Shanty Creek and said what the heck, lets go to Petoskey! So we drove over to Petoskey this morning with maps of the bike course and hit the road. I forgot how hilly that course is! It is easy to forget about ridiculous climbs and frightening downhills when you don't have anything like that around. We really enjoyed the mile and a half climb on Mitchell road. Small chain ring all the way up! After we did the bike coarse, we quickly loaded the bikes into the car and hit the run course, which is thankfully very flat and beautifully scenic.
This weekend I am adding a sprint to my race schedule, just because I got the racing bug after Lansing Legislator! My dad and I are heading out to Island Lake to race on Sunday, and then the real taper starts for Petoskey. One thing Todd and I learned today is that you need to be tapered properly in order to do well on that bike course. If your legs are tired at all, it is not a course that you can just crank through and still do well. You need to be fresh!
Also new, I am very excited about some sponsorship applications that I have in right now. More about that soon, hopefully all good news!
