Announcing a New Sponsor!!

December 3, 2009
I am very happy to announce that I have a new sponsor for the 2010 race season!  I have been accepted for Team TriSports.com!  During the end of the 2009 race season, I started to look into difference sponsors that I wanted to apply for, but I have had my eye on TriSports.com for a while.  I missed the cut off date for the application last year, so I have always had them in the back of my mind.  When TriSports.com posted the application for 2010 online, I quickly printed it off and began to gather my materials for the application.  I put together as professional as an application as I could because I have never made a resume for triathlon before.  For the essay I recruited some of my friends from medical school to get some input and I would like to thank my close friend Jay Sibbett for his great advice.  I was very nervous when I finally took the trip to the post office and mailed out my application.  Then there was nothing to do but wait.  As the weeks went by, I began to get more nervous.  Waiting is not one of my best features!  When the deadline passed I began to get very worried and sent the sponsorship department an email.  A very nice lady named Lisa Ribes got back to be right away to tell me that the team had not been picked quite yet.  A few days later I received another email from Lisa Ribes.  The subject line basically stated that the team had been chosen.  I had had a very good day shadowing a pediatric surgeon in the OR for the first time so I wasn't sure if I wanted to open the email just yet.  Of course, I am far too curious for my own good sometimes, so I just opened the email.  The first word I saw was congratulations and I started running around and jumping, I was so excited!

So I am very happy to announce my new sponsor and new team for the upcoming season.  I'm very excited to be a part of the team and I'm looking forward to the new opportunities that I have as a member of this team.  I'm planning to head to Chicago as one of my big races for Team TriSports.com and I am very excited about the race and the famous expo!  I'll make sure to post more updates as the season gets closer!

I don't do mountain biking... until now!

November 17, 2009
This story basically goes exactly as the title states.  I hated mountain biking.  Let me give you a few examples of how much I hated mountain biking.  I am currently attending medical school at Michigan State University, which has a pretty large campus.  I happen to have been smart enough to choose a house only half a mile away from the buildings where all my medical school classes are held.  But whenever possible, I would beg my boyfriend to give me a ride.  I loved when I was sick because a...

Offseason Fun!

October 18, 2009
There is something about running in the fall weather that just makes those miles fly by!  I went on a run today, which was only 8.4 miles, which sadly is a long run for me.  It's hard to make myself go slowly after being injured, but I know I need to focus and stay disciplined or I'll just get injured again.  Even today when I ran I could feel my IT band and my hips starting to get sore, but the good news is that my IT band and my hips did not hurt later today while I was walking around town ...

School, food and training...

October 6, 2009
Life is getting a little bit crazier, but I actually feel like I'm getting more control!  I think I finally got my act together with medical school.  It took a combination of my dad and my boyfriend to show me that I better not screw up this opportunity!  Luckily, I realized that I needed to get better with my schedule before I ruined anything with school because I was still passing all my classes.  Now I realize that I can either workout of I can watch TV, and I was trying to do both.  I don...

Starting the off season

September 27, 2009
Strangely, I've been looking forward to the off season quite a bit.  It is probably because I struggled with injuries so much this season.  My injuries weren't that serious, just a pulled IT band and a dislocated rib.  The rib was probably the most frustrating though because it took 6 weeks for someone to figure out what was wrong!  But anyway, now the off season has finally begun and I can start working toward next season!  This season (2009) wasn't really going to be a big season anyway bec...
