The Off Season

The off season is here! Yesterday it snowed and the now actually stuck, which means it is officially the off season here in Michigan! I do love the snow, it always makes everything look so pretty. What I do not like is the 10 minute walk to class in the snow because although it is pretty, it is cold and wet! The ski season is sneaking up and I cannot wait, it has been a long while since I have been able to downhill race. I hope to get in some good racing this season, but no more crashes like 4 years ago!
Besides waiting for the ski season to start, I have been spending some good time with the MSU Triathlon Team. Todd has always told me about how hard high school swim practices are and I never realized what he was talking about. Practices with 8 people in the lane are hard! The water gets really rough and I happen to be one of the faster swimmers in my lane so I get put out front a lot. Not only is there the wake from the people in my lane, there is wake from the 8 people in the lane to my right and another 8 people in the lane on my left! Crazy waves!! At least I am finally learning to lift my head up so I don't drink so much chlorine.
Spin classes have also been going great. I love the new spin bikes, they have power meters on them which is a tool I have never used before. But now that I have been using a power meter, I really wish I had one! Maybe Santa will send me a power meter, or maybe I'm just dreaming because power meters are so pricey. The newest technology always is pricey. But at least I get to track my progress in spin class.
So the off season is going pretty well so far and my eyes are set on Collegiate Nationals! April 9th, 2011 in Alabama!
